91 Points
Dark garnet color. Intense nose with bright
red cherry aromas graced with notes of leather,
cocoa, licorice and mineral. Flavors are focused and
equally intense, the wine is just beginning to show
some age; the perfectly integrated tannins have good
grip and, with the natural acidity, give the wine a
strong backbone and a lead to a lengthy finish.
Good potential!

Additional
Information
Páramo means
literally “bleak plateau” in Spanish. Páramo de
Corcos is a zone within the D.O. Ribera del Duero
specially designated because of its particular
characteristics. The plateau is 950 m above sea
level with a strikingly harsh, extremely arid
climate. The terroir is a well-drained rocky, sandy
loam with a deep layer of clay subsoil.

Perfectly ripe Tempranillo
grapes.
Bodega
Páramo de Corcos has 28 hectares of vineyards on
this inhospitable, harsh terrain. The native
Tempranillo grape is well-adapted to this tough
environment and the Camarero Bajo Family, led by
Javier and Lourdes and followed by their children
Encarnación, Francisco Javier and José Maria, have
been producing wine in the region since before the
existence of the D.O. Ribera del Duero.
The family’s winery
features state-of-the-art technology including small
fermentation tanks to allow the grapes from each
individual plot to be vinified separately.
Everything is, of course, temperature controlled to
capture the natural flavors present in the fruit.
All of the grapes
are harvested manually. The grapes undergo a cold
soak prior to fermentation. The wine is vinified in
stainless steel tanks. After vinification, the wine
is aged for 12 months in 70% French oak and 30%
American oak. |
